A CT scan of the jaw does not require any preparation from the patient. Only jewelry, ornaments and metal objects must be removed from the head and neck area. The examination is safe and involves a negligible dose of radiation (similar to that received from the environment during the day).
The patient walks up to the CT scanner and places his head in the indicated area, while simultaneously inserting a special bite between his teeth. He must remain still for a few seconds, during which time the camera will make a rotation around the area to be examined. The entire procedure is painless and does not involve any discomfort.
