Tooth extraction - what does it involve?

Tooth extraction, commonly referred to as “tooth pulling,” is a surgical procedure that involves the removal of a diseased or damaged tooth. It is usually performed as a last resort when a tooth is no longer suitable for conservative and root canal treatment. Indications for tooth extraction may also include:

Is tooth extraction painless?

Dental treatment is not one of the most pleasant, and many patients are panicky about it. At Dentaxo dental clinic in Wroclaw, we will take care of your mental comfort and well-being during tooth extraction, which you won’t even feel!

The tooth extraction procedure is performed under local anesthesia, so the patient does not feel pain. This allows precise extraction of the diseased tooth, and the procedure itself has no health risks.

Can the patient be under anesthesia during tooth extraction? General anesthesia is used when local anesthesia is not sufficient or more teeth are to be extracted. Extraction of a tooth under anesthesia is carried out with the assistance of an anesthesiologist, who qualifies the patient for the procedure. Remember that not every person can undergo anesthesia – it is important that the heart, lungs and nervous system work properly.

Tooth extraction under anesthesia is also carried out in children, for whom dental treatment and a visit to the dentist is associated with a lot of stress. The procedure looks very similar to that for adult patients. During the procedure, our staff will make sure that your child feels safe and comfortable.

What does a tooth extraction procedure look like in Wroclaw?

There are two types of tooth extraction:

Removal of the tooth is performed with the use of local anesthesia, which is applied in the form of an injection. First, the dentist removes the periodontal ligament, so that the tooth is then dislodged and extracted with extraction forceps. To stop the bleeding, a dental tampon or gauze is placed in the mouth, which the patient should bite on for about 30 minutes. After tooth extraction, you may feel numbness in parts of your face or have trouble speaking.
