Dental tomography (CBCT) is a three-dimensional, highly accurate imaging test. It is performed prior to implant, orthodontic, and surgical treatment, as well as in the diagnosis of pain, injuries, and problems that cannot be seen on a regular X-ray.
3D tomography allows for the detection of inflammatory changes, cysts, hidden root canals, fractures, impacted wisdom teeth, bone defects, temporomandibular joint disorders, and assessment of conditions for implant placement.
The examination is quick, painless, and only requires you to remain still for a few seconds. The patient stands in the CBCT device, and the machine performs a full scan of the upper jaw, lower jaw, or selected area. The whole process usually takes 10-20 seconds
Yes. CBCT uses a low dose of radiation, and the examination is only performed when necessary for a precise diagnosis. It is also safe for children, provided that the appropriate indications are followed.
